summer 2019
same as the rest
windows wide open in the rain
draining down to the laundry room
pick the color palette for cabinets in a vacuum
throw your trash in the plastic lampshade
keep your bed made and bury your face in the shade
while you daisy chain the power strips I made
running on acid and tangerines
citrus songs with no meaning
oh, that feeling of someday
same as the rest
got pulled in to a wind tunnel
lost track of time as the clouds rolled in
then I dissolved and fell apart right onto the road
blew my hair all around away from everything
oh, I breathe distortion
and I see through a screen door
I’m bending around the corner
and I’m peeking through the crack in the floor
oh, that feeling of someday
same as the rest
blue and green is what you said to me
my body is blurred out, you see
the sun is so hot I can barely breathe
all I know is just how to be
oh, that feeling of someday
same as the rest
hue
spotlight in the dark
outlining the shape of
an overcast evening
painted with a colored blend
particle accelerator collide with me
reveal these visible light frequencies
pinball machine people diffract and sparkle
in neon mist and finger snaps and
fireworks mirrored in the windows of the
looming, darkened office buildings
sleeping prisms and/or blank canvases
spattered with summer rain and scattered light
framing this bastion of color
grey and blue rain in June
pink and purple tunes
sing us home soon
